Karolina Makuła

The Polish mezzo-soprano Karolina Makuła graduated with honors of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (Poland). She made her professional debut at Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz as Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro). There she also debuted also as Second Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Olga (Eugen Onegin) and Jadwiga (The Haunted Manor).

Karolina was a member of the Young Talents Development Programme – Opera Academy, Polish National Opera in Warsaw and took part in many international masterclasses. She performed at the Polish National Opera including many concerts and production as Prokofiev’s The Fiery Angel with this production she also gave a guest performance at the festival in Aix-en-Provence.

In 2019-22 she was a scholarship holder at the Opera Frankfurt’s Opera Studio. There she debuted as Desdemona in Rossini’s “Otello”, as Enrichetta di Francia (I puritani), Carmen (Carmen ; opera for children) as Francesca in the world premiere of Lucia Ronchetti’s “Inferno” at the Bockenheimer Depot – the accompanying opera film premiered on 11 July in Frankfurt as well as at the Festival Due Mondi in Spoleto.

In the 2021/22 season at Oper Frankfurt she took on the roles of Mercédès (Carmen), Giovanna (Rigoletto), Mädchen (Maskerade), Pippo (La gazza ladra), Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel Opera for Children) and Second Witch (Dido and Aeneas).

In 2022 She made her debut at the Tyrolean Festival in Erl with Zweite Elfe (Summer Night’s Dream). Last winter she came back to Erl as convincing Paolo (Francesca da Rimini), Stallmagd (Königskinder) and Wellgunde (Götterdämmerung).

In the 2022/23 season she took the roles of Tisbe (La Cenerentola) and Der Boy (Der Zar lässt sich fotografieren) at Oper Frankfurt.

This season she will create the roles as a guest as Amando (Le Grand Macabre) in Oper Frankfurt, Hannah (Die Passagierin) in Staatstheater Mainz, Wellgunde in (Götterdämmerung) and (Das Rheingold) at Tiroler Festspiele Erl.

Karolina Makula is a laureate of the National Singing Competition in Drezdenko, the J. E. J. Reszke Competition 2017 in Czestochowa and the Singing and Chamber Music Competition 2017 in Bydgoszcz (Poland), among others.
